Kevin Poorman is a retired Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) special agent with an advanced degree and specialized training in forensic science. He is a retired Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and spent most of his adult life investigating violent crime. One of his cases was featured on the television series Forensic Files (Season 10, Episode 11 — “Strong Impressions”), highlighting the impact of his investigative work.
After four decades conducting criminal, fraud, and counterintelligence investigations, Kevin transitioned into full-time visual art. His forensic background — centered on trace evidence, pattern interpretation, and structural analysis — directly informed his approach to creative work.
Kevin is the originator of Cognitive Exprinting, a diagnostic framework that maps cognitive signal traits as they are encoded through visual art. His work blends analytical rigor with inventive taxonomy, resulting in modular systems for trait-level diagnosis, structural interpretation, and cognitive-signature analysis.
His artwork has been exhibited at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia; Art a la Carte Gallery in Occoquan, Virginia; and is held in private collections across the United States. One of his original works, Space Coast, was accessioned into the Air Force Art Collection housed at the Pentagon.
